"Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart.” Shinichi Suzuki, Innovator of the Suzuki Method Photo by Bob Rashid

Creating Beautiful Hearts
The MSO's Young People's Concerts reach more children of all ages every year, bringing them into Overture Hall to experience classical music the way it was meant to be heard, LIVE.
This free concert in Overture Hall presents the four finalists of the Bolz Young Artist Competition with John DeMain and the MSO before a live audience. The winners go on to perform before their peers at the Spring Young People's Concert.
The Spring Young People's Concert creates memorable musical experiences for middle and high school students, showcasing the talents of the winners of the Bolz Young Artists Competition. Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra Music Director James Smith conducts.
The Fall Youth Concerts are designed to delight upper elementary and middle school students, and feature the winners of the Fall Youth Concerto Competition. Music Director John DeMain leads and the children are introduced to each family of instruments.
Symphony Soup is a concert designed to meet the interests of kindergarten through third grade students. It is the culmination of the MSO's nationally recognized Up Close & MusicalĀ® Program, which brings interactive musical performances into the schools.
