GUEST ARTIST OUTREACH
BRINGING THE WORLD TO THE COMMUNITY
The MSO's Master Classes, Clinics, Workshops and "Conversations with the Artist" bring the world's best musicians into our community where they can have a positive influence on young artists and the culture as a whole. We are proud to be able to bring so many soloists and conductors (including John DeMain!) into local schools to work with students of all ages. These sessions are offered free to participating schools and are open to community members.
TRUE MUSICAL HEROS
An encounter with a musical hero can be a turning point in the life of a young musician. These emerging young artists have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from a master. The MSO guest artists who have given of their time to teach and reach out in our community have included violinists Pinchas Zukerman, Hilary Hahn, Henning Kraggerud, Sarah Chang, Mark O'Connor, Jennifer Frautschi and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg; pianists Stephen Hough and Philippe Bianconi; cellists Lynn Harrell, Alban Gerhardt and Steven Isserlis; sopranos Sylvia McNair and Dawn Upshaw; conductors Carl St. Clair, Arild Remmereit, Daniel Hege, and of course our own John DeMain; percussionist Evelyn Glennie and bass-player Edger Meyer...just to name a few!
