CLUB 201
CLASSICAL WITH A TWIST
Four times each year, Club 201 treats Madison's young professionals (ages 21-39) to a moveable feast. We start with exquisite classical music performed by world-renowned soloists in Overture Hall. Then we add exclusive after-hours parties at some of downtown's hottest venues. $25 includes the concert ticket and party admission with hors d'oeuvres and a beer, wine or cocktail tasting. 105.5 Triple M's Jonathan Suttin hosts.
2010-2011 EVENTS
FRI OCT 15 AT 7:30 PM IN OVERTURE HALL
The Washington Post says, "Kern's musicality radiates off the stage and saturates the hall, and it is joyously alive, immediately communicative, fragrantly sensual, and almost visual in its intensity." Russian pianist Olga Kern was the first woman in more than 30 years to walk away with the coveted gold medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and she did it with Rachmaninoff. John DeMain can't say enough about her facility with the music of her homeland, or about Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra. We'll step across State Street after the concert for hors d'oeuvres and cocktails at Samba Brazilian Grill
FRI DEC 3 AT 7:30 PM IN OVERTURE HALL
Club 201's Holiday Party is a classic. Be sure to arrive an hour early to the concert for Christmas carols in the lobby with the Madison Symphony Chorus. Then John DeMain really pulls out all the stops with three great choirs, 90 musicians, the Overture Concert Organ and 2,000 audience members to raise the roof in the sing-along finale. You'll be (curiously) moved. fresco atop the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art is the rendezvous for our most popular party. We usually sell out, so order early!
FRI FEB 18 AT 7:30 PM IN OVERTURE HALL
The New York Times says, "Dinnerstein is touring. Go hear her and get religion." She blew the lid off the classical music world when she recorded her own debut album, which ranked No. 1 on the US Billboard Classical Chart in its first week of sales and was named to many "Best of 2007" lists including those of The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The New Yorker. Her follow-up album, The Berlin Concert, also gained the No. 1 spot on the Chart. And she's not just playing any Beethoven concerto...this is the Emperor. Stay tuned for the location of the after-concert party.
FRI APRIL 15 AT 7:30 PM IN OVERTURE HALL
The New York Times says, "Those who know the pianist Christopher Taylor tend to speak of him in the hushed, reverent tones typically reserved for natural wonders if not the otherworldly. Colleagues trip over words like 'innocence,' ' fervor,' 'beauty' and 'vision' in an attempt to capture his elusive personality." The critics are calling him the pianist of his generation, and he's quietly teaching piano right here at the UW-Madison. This concert is a beautiful tasting of classical composers and styles. Stay tuned for the after-concert party location.
I'M A FIRST-TIMER
If you are coming to Club 201 for the first time by yourself, don’t worry! You’ll be seated with other Club 201 guests, typically in the front rows of the balcony. Plan to arrive at Overture Hall about 20 minutes before the 7:30 PM performance. Your tickets will be waiting for you at the Overture Box Office Will-Call window.
AFTER THE CONCERT
You’ll take a short walk (or drive, if you prefer) to the party venue where you’ll meet your hosts Jonathan Suttin of 105.5 FM Triple M Radio and Sarah Michael of the MSO. We’ll introduce you to some of the younger virtuosos of the MSO who love Club 201, and although we can’t make promises, our young superstar guest artists have been known to come over to relax after the concert.
AT THE PARTY
You’ll be treated to free hors d’oeuvres and Club 201 drink specials along with a complimentary beer, wine or cocktail tasting. Check out the Club 201 Facebook page as the event approaches for more information. The parties usually begin around 9:30 PM and last until 11:30 or midnight. If you have friends who would like to join you for the party but can’t make the concert, they can purchase party tickets for $12 each by calling Chris at 608.257.3734.

CLUB 201'S 2010-2011 SEASON SPONSOR |
 |
Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S. C. has been serving Madison and Milwaukee for more than 60 years with thriving law practices and a commitment to the community through employees who volunteer for and make contributions to worthy causes.
Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek chose to sponsor Club 201 for the first time last season because they saw a significant opportunity to help bring a new generation of concert-goers to the MSO. With the help of this sponsorship, Club 201 really took off last year, more than doubling the size of its events and garnering sell-out crowds for the first time. With the continued support of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek, Club 201 hopes to double in size again this year, bringing even more young professionals together for Madison’s hottest cultural happenings.
Whyte Hirschboeck is proud to partner with the MSO for Club 201. To have a symphony of this caliber in a community of our size is phenomenal,” said their representative in a recent interview. “The world-renowned guest artists we attract are a testament to what the MSO, John DeMain and our community of supporters have achieved. As a result, we're delighted to help entice a new generation of concert-goers.”
